Lil Plums menu - 4/1/08

Breakfast: Appley Apricot Delight- Home made applesauce with Dried Apricots , crystalized ginger and a dash of cinnamon and allspice.

Barley with Soy Milk and a dash of Cinnamon

Cottage Cheese

Lunch: Home made Polenta ( Moosewood cooks at home recipe )

Italian Style Lentils ( this one I basically just throw whatever veggies I have in the house diced up finely, in some EVOO and a frying pan, some oregano, basil and garlic , a diced tomator and onions,,, saute lightly then add veggie broth and lentils and simmer covered for about 20

Dinner: Caulitato Mash ( recipe courtesy of Kiwi magazine,,, ) simple Caluiflower and potatoes mashed together with some Earth balance and topped off with some shredded cheddar cheese.

Honey Mustard Green Beans ( recipe also courtesy of Kiwi Magazine )
Attempted a vegan meatloaf with TVP,,,,,, DIDNT turn out too well... so I fed my lil Plum some diced tofu for Proteins sake.

Of course,,, she didnt object. She eats Tofu like its her last meal.

Tis it !

The best part of being a new stay at home mom is being able to cook and experiment with all sorts of new and fun recipes for my lil one and I wanted to share these new experiences with eveyrone.

Well, til next time...

Uh, "flesh free" has such a nice ring to it, Deb.

Wow, Deb! I am quite impressed! I hope our bad eating habits don't jump over the fence into your yard...before long Ava will be sneaking Lily Pringles, M&M's and Kid Cusines! :)

No, I'm only kidding, of course! You are such a great Mommy to be doing all of this for Lily. I am very impressed, and as soon as I can pronounce some of the things she is eating, I'll toss them right on my grocery list (above the french fries and below the cereal bars!)

Can't wait to play outside with the girls!

P.S. You will be happy to know that Ava did eat a vegetable, ONCE.

P.P.S. We don't even own Flour or Sugar...so I may be at a bit of a disadvantage in starting this new way of healthy eating! :)

Anne, I knew you would appreciate the flesh free comment.
Ange, Have no fear, there IS a teeanger in my house so Ava wont be the only junk food influence on LIl Plum. Zacks main menu always consists of gummi worms and Doritos and you will be happy to hear,, Zack grew up on Kid Cuisines,, I wasnt always wacky culinary crazy :) And no worries,, if you ever need flour or sugar,,, im only a hop skip and a jump away,,, but,, I may only have whole wheat flour and pure cane sugar to spare.
